Role of Antioxidative Defense in Yellow Mosaic Disease Resistance in Black Gram [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper]

چکیده

Yellow mosaic virus (YMV) transmitted by whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) causes yellow disease (YMD) in blackgram cultivars only during kharif season but was not observed the same sown spring season. The main objective of present investigation to study cooperative role various antioxidative enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), guaiacol (GPOX), glutathione reductase (GR), monodehydro (MDHAR), dehydroascorbate (DHAR) along with non- enzymic antioxidants and free radical scavenging activities under natural epiphytotic conditions black gram Three cultivars-KUG253 (highly susceptible YMD), MASH114 (resistant) Cross (KUG253 × MASH114) at F5 generation were both seasons. During season, YMV caused severe chlorosis KUG253 cultivar 40 days after sowing (DAS) which affected its quantum efficiency 58% compared Higher specific MDHAR, DHAR, GR 20DAS might have helped these fight off right from beginning infection. showed highest anion activity (SASA), ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) total (TRP). On other hand, struggled maintain CAT, GR, DHAR progressed further. GPOX APX tried compensate for loss CAT enzyme high NADPH Oxidase promoted production harmful ROS ultimately lead higher oxidative damage cultivar.

Mapping of Mungbean Yellow Mosaic India Virus (MYMIV) and powdery mildew resistant gene in black gram [Vigna mungo(L.) Hepper]

Black gram, one of the important species of Asian Vigna group of grain legumes, is widely grown in South Asia and is an important source of dietary protein. The two main biological constraints particularly Mungbean Yellow Mosaic India Virus(MYMIV) and powdery mildew pose a major threat to black gram production in India. Several reports on mapping mungbean yellow mosaic virus disease and powdery...

Agronomic Traits and Total Seed Protein in Black Gram Vigna Mungo (l.) Hepper

This study evaluated agronomic traits of 111 genotypes of black gram Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper, mainly from Pakistan, to determine the extent of genetic diversity. Seed proteins were analyzed by SDS-PAGE. High genetic variance was observed for days to flowering, days to maturity, number of branches/plant, number of pods/plant, biomass/plant, grain yield/plant and harvest index, whereas low geneti...

RAPD assisted selection of black gram (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) towards the development of multiple disease resistant germplasm

Black gram (Vigna mungo L. Hepper), is an extensively studied food crop which is affected by many abiotic and biotic factors, especially diseases. The yield potential of Black gram is shallow due to lack of genetic variability and biotic stress susceptibility. Core biotic stress factors include mung bean yellow mosaic virus (MYMV), urdbean leaf crinkle virus (UCLV), wilt (Fusarium oxysporum) an...

ESTIMATION OF VARIABILITY, HERITABILITY AND GENETIC ADVANCE IN MUTANT POPULATIONS OF BLACK GRAM (Vigna mungo L. Hepper)

Genetic variability and heritability estimates with genetic advance of traits are essential for crop improvement. In this investigation, variability induced by gamma rays and ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS) for different quantitative traits including plant height (cm), flowering time (days), number of primary branches per plant, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per plant, number of s...

Effect of seaweed liquid extract of Caulerpa scalpelliformis on growth and biochemical constituents of black gram (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper)

Effect of Seaweed Liquid Extract (SLE) of Caulerpa scalpelliformis on growth and biochemical constituents of Vigna mungo was studied. The lower concentration of SLE of C. scalpelliformis (25%) enhanced the percentage of germination, shoot length, root length and biochemical constituents viz., chlorophyll, carotenoid, amino acid, reducing sugar and total sugar contents and α-amylase and β-amylas...
